When I raise the white flag of surrender
Upon a mound of shards of myself
That could no longer keep it together
Will anyone even know it?
When I heave the package
From my trembling shoulders
That can no longer bear the burden
Will I have where to stow it?
When I ink a letter of resignation
In blood and in sweat
And in tears of despair
Will there be anyone to receive it?
When I crumple my willpower into a ball
And thrust it far out
Into the depths of the ocean
Will I have a choice but retrieve it?
